Is The Amazon Echo Loop The Best New Technology?
Amazon Echo Loop: Wearable A.I.
One of the newest concepts from Amazon is the Echo Loop. People have been speculating that Amazon would put the Echo artificial intelligence system in wearable gear for some time now. Common ideas were a necklace, or in the frames of glasses. The Echo Loop is actually a ring that you wear on your finger. This sleek little device can interact with either the Amazon Alexa, Apple Siri or Google Assistant. Rather than voice activation by saying "Alexa" or "Hey Google", it has a button to activate the microphone in it.
Convenience
The level of convenience this provides is wonderful. When you are doing things around the house, you can have your home Echo device create a shopping list that you add to as you discover things you need. Next time you are at the store, simply ask your Echo Loop what items are on your shopping list.
How many times do you pull out your phone during a conversation to look up something you can't remember? Or maybe to solve that argument on which Basketball team had a better record in 2002. Now you can leave your phone in your pocket and simply ask your Echo Loop.
You can also make phone calls on this device, but it is not expected to be a popular feature. The microphone and speaker are small enough that a two-way conversation may prove to be difficult without moving your hand back and forth between your mouth and ear.
Charging and Battery Life
The Echo Loop is expected to have a charge time of about 90 minutes. That is from 0% all the way to 100% battery life, which is a pretty good time. The device charges on an included stand that uses a magnetic connection for charging. The device is expected to last a full day with moderate usage.
Washing Your Hands
The Amazon Echo Loop is water resistant so you can wash your hands with it on. It is not recommended that you shower or swim while wearing it however, as water resistant and waterproof are different. Who needs to talk to Alexa while in the shower anyways?
Colors and Sizes
There is only one color option for the Echo Loop as of right now. The Black Titanium finish is a sleek and modern looking color. They are likely to announce more colors as well if this product performs well. It comes in 4 sizes; small, medium, large, and extra large. The relatively correspond to sizes 9, 10, 11 and 12 in ring sizes. If you are unsure, you can get a free fitting kit that include dummy rings to test how thy fit.
When Can I Get One?
As of right now, you need an invitation to get one while they are still testing them. You can apply for an invitation on Amazon's website. If you are approved, you will get an email with a code that will allow you to order one Echo Loop within the next 30 days. Official public release has not been announced yet.
