Release Date
The most reliable rumors point to an announcement on September 7 at Apple's Far Out event, with a release date of September 17. This is in line with Apple’s usual release schedule, so it’s not a surprise. Here’s when the last few generations arrived:
- iPhone 13: September 24, 2021
- iPhone 12: October 23, 2020
- iPhone 11: September 20, 2019
- iPhone XS: September 21, 2018
(Note that one iPhone has arrived already in 2022: the iPhone SE 3 was announced at Apple’s spring event on March 8. But the flagship launch will wait until the fall.)
Design
The iPhone 14 is rumored to have a similar design to the iPhone 13. This means that we can expect flat sides and a metal frame. The biggest change is rumored to be the size of the camera module, which is said to be larger on the iPhone 14.
Display
The iPhone 14 is rumored to have a 5.4-inch OLED display. This would make it the smallest iPhone since the iPhone SE. The other three models are rumored to have 6.1-inch, 6.7-inch, and 5.5-inch OLED displays.
Camera
The camera is one of the most heavily rumored features of the iPhone 14. The biggest change is said to be a new sensor-shift image stabilization system for the main camera. This would be a first for iPhones and could lead to better low-light photos and videos.
The other cameras are also rumored to be getting upgrades. The ultra-wide camera is said to be getting a larger sensor, and the front-facing camera is said to be getting a new sensor for improved low-light performance.
Other Features
The iPhone 14 is also rumored to be getting a new processor, 5G support, and more. The processor is said to be an upgraded version of the A14 Bionic found in the iPhone 12. 5G support has been rumored for the iPhone for a while now, and it’s finally expected to make its debut with the iPhone 14.
Price
Price-wise, we expect the standard iPhone 14 model to start at around $800, with the iPhone 14 Pro model somewhere between $1,000 and $1,100 (or more if you want to add extra storage).

Conclusion
The iPhone 14 is shaping up to be a minor upgrade over the iPhone 13. However, the new features and upgrades that are rumored to be coming could make it a must-have for many Apple fans. We’ll find out for sure when Apple announces the iPhone 14 at its Far Out event on September 7.
