5 Gadgets You Need To Improve Efficiency In Your Life
Check Out These Gadgets to Improve Efficiency
In a perfect world we would all operate at maximum efficiency. This would allow us to get more done at home, at work, and on the go. Unfortunately we don't live in a perfect world. That doesn't mean that we can't be more efficient though. Higher efficiency means getting things done faster, without losing quality of your work. This could be something as simple as putting the dishes in the dishwasher while you are cooking. Or a headset at work allowing you to talk on the phone and type on the computer at the same time. What else could improve your efficiency?
Standing Desks
One of the best office developments in recent years is the standing desk. If you are sitting behind a desk for 8-10 hours a day, you likely get sore, fatigued, or restless from sitting for so long. A standing desk gives you the opportunity to stand up, while still getting work done. This is good not just for at work, but for at home as well. Take your personal office and add a level of flexibility and comfort. Standing desk can either be free standing, where they are built taller than an average desk, or adjustable. If you want an adjustable desk, you can either get a manual one that you adjust yourself, or an automatic one. The automatic ones are nice because they use motors or hydraulics to lift the weight, allowing you to stop them at the perfect height.
Desk Organizers
This may seem like a no-brainer, but you would be surprised at how many people fumble through their desk drawers looking for something that could easily be within reach. How often do you need to jot down an important note? It happens to me quite often. With my desk organizer, I can grab a pen and pad of sticky notes from right next to me in a matter of seconds. This can also keep other things like scissors, paper clips, rubber bands, a calculator, highlighters and tape close to you and organized for easy use.
On a side note, Sticky notes are great as well. Write down something you need to do later and stick it to your computer screen. The bright color stands out and reminds you to read it the next time you see it.
Robotic Vacuums
Most people have seen the Roomba vacuum cleaners that roam around your home or office sweeping the floors. These can be quite expensive, but with advancements in technology, other companies now make much more affordable options for these. Are they perfect? No, but they can help with the day-to-day cleaning until you are able to deep clean your floors. Just try not to trip over them. These work great at home or in the office. If the noise bothers you, you can set them on a schedule to run only when you are not around. Or you can lock them into one room at a time, where the sensors will turn them around when they hit the door or other objects.
Smart Thermostats
Smart thermostats, like those from Nest, Honeywell or Ecobee, can help you save time and money on your energy bill. You can program them to adjust the temperature when you are away to use less energy. You can also connect them to your smartphone to make changes on the go as your schedule changes. Working late today? Set your thermostat to increase the temperature at 6:00 instead of 4:00 with just a few simple touches. You can use these for the office as well. Is your office always cold at a certain time of the day? Rather than everyone getting up and moving around to warm up, set the thermostat to increase the temperature right before this usually happens. This can save you a great deal of time and money in the long run.
